The LEGO Movie 2: New Character Names

Today saw the reveal of the first official poster for the upcoming The LEGO Movie 2 as well as an announcement that tomorrow (June 5th) the first official trailer will be released. Nonetheless, many fans have already began speculating about the clues that this new poster has provided and, especially, who the new minifigure that draws all of the attention in the poster is. Thankfully, thanks to BusinessWire, we now have a bit more information about her.

According to the press release they posted, the new minifig we saw in the poster is Sweet Mayhem, who will be a new addition to TLM cast and will be played by Stephanie Beatriz. Thanks to the image provided in the press release, we are now pretty certain that Sweet Mayhem will be a mini doll figure rather than a standard minifig. It’ll be interesting to see how they animate her and how she blends in with our standard cast, as mini dolls aren’t quite the same size as standard minifigs:

Along with the reveal of Sweet Mayhem’s name, we also learned about another set of new characters: Queen Watevra Wa-Nabi and Ice Cream Cone, played by Tiffany Haddish, and Arturo Castro respectively. No details have been provided about these new characters nor any image of them. However, we’ll most certainly see them in tomorrow new trailer.

Included in the press release, we also got the following synopsis for the movie:

“The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part” reunites the heroes of Bricksburg in an all new action-packed adventure to save their beloved city. It’s been five years since everything was awesome and the citizens are facing a huge new threat: LEGO DUPLO® invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than they can rebuild. The battle to defeat them and restore harmony to the LEGO universe will take Emmet, Lucy, Batman and their friends to faraway, unexplored worlds, including a strange galaxy where everything is a musical. It will test their courage, creativity and Master Building skills, and reveal just how special they really are.
